Environmental Management
LLP Eco Refining’s complete industrial safety management system ensures constant environmental monitoring and protection while also minimizing environmental consequences. The major method employed in this endeavor is an environmental management policy in accordance with the international ISO14001 standard. LLP Eco Refining’s compliance with the ISO 14001: 2019 environmental management system was validated by an independent audit in 2020. The ongoing transition from implementing initiatives aimed at eliminating any harm to nature to the ongoing assessment of potential environmental risks and the implementation of initiatives to prevent the occurrence of manmade environmental impacts is a key area of focus in developing an environmental safety system.
Engaging with stakeholders
When planning projects, the corporation performs public discussions during which all stakeholders are informed of potential environmental implications of proposed activities and provided access to materials. Scientific and research institutions are involved in the creation of new nature conservation programs and the introduction of new environmentally friendly technology (“eco-technologies”). Biological variety preservation programs, in particular, are being developed in collaboration with the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution (RAS).
Under the framework of the LLP Eco Refining yearly ecology conferences, employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Kazakhstan Agency for the Supervision of Natural Resources are invited to engage in direct discussion with representatives of government agencies. Participants examine major issues in current environmental legislation, new approaches to controlling man-made environmental impacts, the outlook for eradicating long-term and cumulative environmental damage, and global developments in environmental policy.

Oil spill prevention
The bursting of commercial oil pipes due to corrosive processes is the primary cause of the oil disaster at LLP Eco Refining. The company continues to work to reduce the amount of commercial pipeline failures and breakages by timely and high-quality execution of diagnostic, reconstruction, replacement, braking, and cleanup actions aimed at enhancing pipeline integrity and dependability.
Unquestionably, constant readiness for the eradication of emergency oil spills (MATS) is a priority. When conducting offshore oil operations, high environmental safety standards are set: background environmental studies are performed before any type of work is performed, and our potential social and environmental impact is assessed, as well as impact monitoring, emission monitoring, and accident monitoring during and after operations. Following completion of the work, continuous environmental monitoring of the destroyed wells will be carried out, including monitoring the quality of atmospheric air, seawater pollution and bottom sediments, the state of biodiversity, laboratory and analytical work, photographing and videotaping of the destroyed wells’ bows.
